The Possibilities of 3D TV

The 3D Possbilites Are Endless!

The Possibilities of 3D TV

3D TV is set to enter our homes sooner than you may think. The Sony Company is set to bring out their 3D ready TVs in 2010. Sky TV will be launching their 3D channel in 2010 and various other TV channels are hosting one off 3D specials. The question is, is the excitement around 3D TV justified?

What is 3D TV?

3D technology has been around for a long time but it has had varying degrees of success because of the quality of 3D shows that can be aired on TV. It was generally accepted that the only way you could get a truly impressive 3D experience was to go to the cinema and wear silly glasses.

The advent of the 3D TV set has blown this assumption out of the water. New technology is now set to make the 3D experience available in every home as long as you buy a 3D ready TV.

Possibilities

The 3D TV revolution is not just limited to TV sets. There are a multitude of options for 3D viewing. Electrical companies like Sony are developing all of their technology including laptops, blu-ray players and game consoles to be 3D ready.

With these innovations it seems likely that we could be watching 3D TV, playing 3D games and surfing the 3D internet in the very near future. Unfortunately it is also likely that we might still need to wear those silly glasses!

TV Shows and 3D Specials

With all the hype surrounding 3D TV it is not surprising that many film makers and TV networks are trying to be the first with the best 3D ideas before the introduction of 3D TVs. There is a big buzz around the word ‘3D’ in the entertainment industry and everyone seems to want a piece of the pie.

But it is not just new films and TV episodes that will hit our 3D TVs. Channel 4 has found a very surprising piece of 3D footage that they will be showing in their 3D week later this year along with other 3D TV specials.

Channel 4 has managed to acquire never seen before 3D footage of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. This amazing find is sure to attract a lot of viewers from the UK and elsewhere. The fact that this event was even filmed in 3D in 1953 is a testament to the long term interest in the idea of 3D TV.

The Next Step in Entertainment Technology

We have seen many changes in entertainment technology over the years from the introduction of color TV to the new 3D TV sets that are hovering in our peripheral vision at this very moment, but what will come after this?

Without a crystal ball or a magic mirror it is difficult to predict what the future has in store for our viewing pleasure. The possibilities are seemingly endless. One hundred years ago 3D TV may have seemed like science fiction. Anything is possible today.

How long will it be until we can actually smell what is on our screens? Smell-o-vision TV surely can’t be that farfetched as a next step in entertainment technology.

Maybe hologram TV will be the next step where people can actually watch something that is that is not confined to the dimensions of a TV set. It really isn’t that unbelievable.

It is clear to see that technology is developing constantly. After 3D TV has made its mark, companies all over the world will be racing to discover the next big thing. We need not worry about that at the moment. 3D TV is enough for now!
